QM Accounts

Queen Mary does not yet have a single, college wide, authentication system. Your email password, EECS login password, ITS research cluster password, Eduroam account etc. may (or may not) share a single username but probably don’t share a single authentication source so changing your password by one mechanism may not – indeed probably won’t – update them all.

ITS Username/Password

Your ITS username probably looks like acw042 or eew103 or similar. This is used for Office365, college desktop machines, most idcheck services and, suffixed by the college’s domain as acw042@qmul.ac.uk, for Eduroam authentication. This can be changed at https://prm.password.qmul.ac.uk/

EECS Username/Password

If you’re a taught course student your username will be 2 or 3 letters followed by 3 or 2 numbers – eg fg405 or bih22. For staff and research students you’ll get a “friendly” username like bettyb or ljsilver. Your EECS username is used to log in to desktops in the ITS and staff machines, to the EECS VPN, and to EECS specific Eduroam when suffixed by the EECS domain – ie bettyb@eecs.qmul.ac.uk. This password will also gain you access to compute nodes that allow non-ssh key based login. You can change this at https://www.eecs.qmul.ac.uk/password

ITS Research password

Used to access the Midplus cluster among other things. Your ITSR username will be the same as your ITS Password but can be changed elsewhere.
