Opening hours

The ITL is currently open from 08:00 until 00:00 7 days a week.

This is subject to change via email and displayed here.

Timetabled laboratory sessions allocate a group of computers to a group of students for a period of time. During the sessions, only the students enrolled on the appropriate course module and staff will be permitted to login.

Outside of the laboratory sessions, the following permissions will apply:

  • MSc students – top floor and use of Eng G52
  • Fourth years – ground, middle and top floors and shared use of ITL Project room and Eng G52
  • Third years – ground, middle and top floors and shared use of ITL Project room
  • Second years – ground and middle floors
  • First years – ground and middle floors

NB. During laboratory sessions the laptop desks should not be used by students who are not enrolled on the course module.

Laptop network access

Wi-fi is available throughout the building. See the school’s eduroam page and configuring eduroam on laptop page for details.

A non-definitive list of popular packages (updated Sept 2011)

From September 2011, all machines are dual-boot Windows 7 and Fedora. These run off Linux server infrastructure, including Samba 4 acting as the Windows 7 domain controller. There is a new IP (Internet Protocol) domain: student.eecs.qmul.ac.uk.
